Oil Analysis Lab Services

For over 40 years, the U.S. Lubricants’ OilChek® Oil Analysis Program has provided high quality, state-of-the-art analyses of lubricating oil and coolants. The highly automated program provides a thorough examination of your lubricating system complete with written recommendations. Our experienced technicians use the best testing equipment available to generate quality data to identify the best reliability practices, increased production and reduced operation cost.

For Current Customers

In October 2024, we are making changes to our used oil analysis program in an effort to better serve you and scale our operations further. Want to learn more?

Our used oil analysis and coolant testing is available to current U.S. Lubricants customers who purchase lubricants or other fluids from our company. Larger customers may even benefit from lab credits on their account. We also offer testing as a stand-alone service to non-customers who are looking to send in 20 or more samples annually. Regular maintenance is important for your operation to avoid unnecessary costs and extend the useful life of the lubricant. The OilChek® BASIC fluid analysis test kit provides diagnostic, preventive maintenance testing designed to evaluate fluid
condition, component wear and contamination in engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and gears.

It will test the following for engines, gears, bearings, compressors, hydraulics, or turbines:

  • Elemental Metals by ICP mod ASTM D5185
  • Viscosity at -40°C and/or 100°C mod ASTM D445
  • Water % (Crackle) Internal Method

 

For Engines only, you will receive two additional results:

  • Fuel Dilution % ASTM D7593
  • Soot % ASTM E2412 (FTIR)

Regular maintenance is important for your operation to avoid unnecessary costs and extend the useful life of the lubricant. The OilChek® ADVANCE fluid analysis test kit provides everything our basic package has, plus a few additional diagnostic, preventive maintenance tests designed to evaluate fluid condition, component wear and contamination in engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and gears. Items marked with a ** at the end identify tests not preformed in the basic package.

It will test the following for engines, gears, bearings, compressors, hydraulics, or turbines:

  • Elemental Metals by ICP mod ASTM D5185
  • Viscosity at -40°C and/or 100°C mod ASTM D445
  • Oxidation/Nitration ASTM E2412 (FTIR) **
  • Water % (Crackle) Internal Method

 

For Engines only, you will receive three additional results:

  • Base Number mod. ASTM D4739 **
  • Fuel Dilution % ASTM D7593
  • Soot % ASTM E2412 (FTIR)

 

For Gears and Bearings only, you will receive this additional result:

  • Acid Number mod ASTM D664 **

 

For Compressors, Hydraulics, Turbines only, you will receive these additional results:

  • Acid Number mod ASTM D664 **
  • ISO Particle Count ISO 4406

We perform analyses to extend the bath-life of process fluids to help your cooling systems operating effectively and efficiently, as well as help your operators continue to work in a safe environment.  The following results are available for your antifreeze/coolant samples:

For an additional cost, our Extended Life Coolant (ELA) package also offers this result:

  • HPLC – Benzotriazole, Tolyltriazole, Mercaptobenzothiazole, Benzoix Acid, Sebacic Acid, 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid, Octoanoic Acid, P-Toluic
